Cybernet ZPC computer

These things aren’t exactly new hack, but last time I read about them they had mediocre hardware inside. Now they are pushing quad-core processors, X3100 graphics, 4GB of RAM, and slim-line optical drives.

s-rd-world

They can even be expanded via the Mini PCI and PCI-e slots. There is a card reader on the front of the keyboard, a touch-pad built in, and obviously there is a keyboard. There are, of course, lower end configurations with less RAM, a Core 2 Duo instead of a Core 2 Quad.

Those lower end combos start at $629 and give you everything except for Speakers and a Monitor. The cheapest Core 2 Quad system is $924, not counting warranty or software options, the hardware only maxes out at $1666 and that’s with no OS. [gizmonews]

UCCTOP XENO

You don’t need a van to transport this video editing software, just a large laptop case. That’s what it is, is a laptop on a whole lot of video editing crack.

We don’t have a lot of specs, but it has 4 channels of video input, 6 channels of audio input, 6-channel audio mixing and selected video switching. There is real-time insertion of subtitles and/or company logo during a live broadcast and you can convert video files to WMV for internet broadcasting.

s-rd-world

You can control external devices such as the pan, tilt, and zoom of a camera or the controls for video or DVD players. VOD files are automatically stored in the media server and registered on a VOD list, there is Movie Maker software that will allow you to edit filmed videos with switching effects, images, and sounds and you can do real-time file transmission in an encoded format for live broadcasting.

The hardware on this thing must be amazing, and god knows how much hard drive storage there is. I bet the battery life is abysmal though, I don’t know where you can get one or how much they cost, but they look nice, and they are apparently made in Korea. [akihabaranews]

Sms pen

Damn I love this one, at the moment you get your pen and write stuff on paper, and then you either keep the paper or fax it on to someone else. Well now you can think about the D:Scribe email and SMS text pen design concept.

s-rd-world

It is a great pen for integrating SMS text and emails, the design is from Reuben Png and basically is on the same wavelength as a Bluetooth pen.

The D:Scribe email and SMS text pen will track down everything as you write, and then all you need to do is circle the person’s name and the text or email is sent digitally via a Bluetooth phone.

The pen allows you to access everything you have written down later because it is all stored in the pens memory; the message status will appear on the pens OLED screen. [yankodesign]

Inflatable Mouse

s-rd-world

The Jelly Click mouse concept could make it easy for business travelers to carry around a full-size mouse without taking up a whole lot of space. The device itself is fairly simple: a small flexible board carries all of the circuitry while the body is composed of plastic that can be blown up manually.

s-rd-world

When not in use, it can be folded into a compact size or slid between the screen and keyboard of your laptop when closed. It may be a little weird from a tactile perspective, but I can see this idea becoming a reality. Although smokers with weak lungs may have a problem with it

Moldable mouse

This mouse design is literally a hunk of clay covered in flexible polyurethane and a nylon fabric. The buttons are detachable and really only work by RF signals, and the scroll wheel is less of a wheel and more a touch/motion sensitive trackpad.

s-rd-world

That means if you wanted to you could just stick the buttons on your desk and call it done, or on your forehead. But the really cool part is the clay mouse base I guess you could call it.

I mean, how badass would it be to have a mouse molded like a shifter, or a jet fighter joystick. Its just a design, so it might not ever be made, but it was designed by a company with the means to manufacture it, and they did win a Red Dot Design Award for it last year so the probability of it getting made is raised by that. Game on

When you spend more time at your computer than Big Bird spends in Sesame Street, you're going to need to be comfortable. The Nex-Sys Corner V1 Desk tries to address the issue. You may mistake the luxury sit-up for another rock band peripheral kit, but don't be fooled. The Corner V1 has support for 2.1 speakers, height adjustable flat screen monitor and comes with a custom car seat to suit your disposition on the day you spend 1700-freaking-dollars on a desk and chair.

s-rd-world

Sure, it is available in a range of colors, is completely hand-crafted and offers levels of comfort you last experienced in your mother's womb, but $1700? It seems a little steep for a desk and chair set only the 40-year old virgin would ever own. Mind you, as our lives are going that way anyhow, we might as well be cozy getting there. [thev1chair]

iRing for iFan

I shudder to use the words fanboy/fangirl, I really do but something about the iRing just screams the words. It’s only a concept at the moment but that wont last long I’m sure.

s-rd-world

Here’s how it would work: There is a sliding volume control on the touch-sensitive strip on the top and on the bottom you get the skip/pause/play controls. There’s also a lock, accessed by bending your finger and squeezing the pads, to stop unintentional commands. It has it’s own docking cradle as well.

You can thank Victor Soto for this idea and I’m sure many of you will want to. I wonder if it’ll be waterproof.

PDA server

How many people do you know that carry a dedicated PDA? Personally, I don’t know anyone that does. Everyone seems to have switched over to phones that can do it all for them. I guess there must still be a market for them because Seattle-based design firm Teague has released a concept for a new HP device.

s-rd-world

It seems to have a nice rugged appearance to it, which is always great. It appears to be designed as more of a datacenter diagnostic device than a standard PDA. “It visualizes and communicates problems related to HP servers and data centers, and works as a fully-integrated system to streamline day-to-day tasks.”

I’ve never worked in a datacenter, but I’ve spent my fair share of time in a server closet, and I could definitely see something like this coming in handy. Seems like others have the same idea, since it won the If Design Award at CeBit this year.

Aura Concept Phone

It’s a great life when you’re a concept phone designer as you can step out of the box and reality as we know it.
You can take the laws of physics and absolute limits of technological advancement and push them further.

s-rd-world

This is the far-out Aura concept phone which the complete service of the cell phone is a 3.9-inch touch screen, the sliding d-pad bar that can be positioned anywhere along the screen.
Would you believe in the 6mm thick shell fits microSD expansion, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, HSDPA and a magically revealed keyboard. [unwired view]

The Loch Ness Monster Terrorizes

The upcoming movie "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" has prompted one hell of a publicity stunt in Tokyo Bay. The extremely cool effect illustrated above is achieved using a large water screen and some very well timed water fountains. In order to get the full effect, check out the video after the break. Seriously, I can't understand a thing that is being said, but I want to see this movie. Marketing magic!

Left-handed Mouse

Cherry Ergo-Shark Left-handed Mouse

I know a lot of lefties and I know the importance of having products that fit both right and left handed people, as well as having products that are specifically for each type. When it comes to comfort, it’s better to have a fitted item then an ambidextrous one. A mouse is no exception, it’s something that’s used a lot and so it needs to fit the user comfortably to ease a little bit of the stress of the work day. The Cherry Ergo-Shark left-handed mouse does just that.

s-rd-world

It’s a wireless mouse with seven buttons and a four-way scrolling function. You can use the mouse from 10 meters away though I’m not sure why you’d want to. It has a Teflon sliding surface for a smooth feel and accuracy. It charges via USB, the cable comes included, and is ready for immediate use out of the package.

If you’re a left and you’d like to have this, you can buy one for just under $70. I think that happens to be a ridiculous amount to pay for a mouse but then I find a lot of left-handed products have silly prices.

E- Video Player

It’s my firm belief that anything made by a company called the Chocolate Agency has to be worth something. The E-Paper bracelet isn’t quite a product yet, just a concept, but it’s still a great idea and it makes me very curious.

s-rd-world

Once fitted upon your wrist it acts like a watch and displays the time and date. However, if you take it off and unroll it, it becomes a fully functional Mp4 video player. It would be powered by kinetic energy in place of traditional batteries as well.

s-rd-world

I’d like to see this play out. It’s extremely geeky but very cool, I can only imagine the price tag it would carry though.

The iRiver SPINN

The iRiver SPINN looks really amazing on the outside and in. It has a 3.2” TFT LCD screen, FM tuner, digital recorder and an e-book.

s-rd-world

If that’s not enough to get you salivating it also has Bluetooth, a microphone and can handle both MP3 and MP4. It claims its interface is “extremely intuitive” and I have to say the analogue knob seems pretty much that.

I don’t know about pricing or availability but it does come in 4, 8 and 16GB versions. I’d love to get my hands on one.

Customisable phone

This customisable face plate concept shown on a clamshell phone is all about user customisation.

s-rd-world

The grid structure holds colored pins to mimic precious jewels and can be used to create all kinds of designs and patterns in full pixelated isometric glory.
Just a concept at this stage, but looks like a fun way to make your phone your own...

Sony XAV-W1 in car video

Sony have just launched the new XAV-W1 in car video head unit which will revamp your vehicle, we believe that this is the worlds first in car head unit that really does support 5.1 SACD. The Sony XAV-W1 portable audio and video unit has some cool features that we hope you will like.

s-rd-world

The Sony XAV-W1 features a 7 inch WVGA LCD with double-DIN XAV-W1, DVD/SACD & CD playback, plus it also boasts Dolby/DTS support, 52 watt x 4 internal amplifier, 3 AV inputs, and 3.5mm auxiliary port, WMA and MP3 compatibility and an image viewer. We like the fact it has a seven band equalizer and that it will work wonders with your satellite and HD radio receiver and even you’re much loved iPod.

Put this in your vehicles dash and you will smarten it up so much, and it is believed to run more than some navigation systems as well. Now the price of $800 is a little steep but and a big but this seems to be a smart device that is sweet.

The question is thou “Would you have the Sony XAV-W1 in car video head unit that will revamp your vehicle for the above price?

Musipen Music Player

There are many concepts in the world being developed and this one breaks all records as far as we are concerned, the all new concept design named the Musipen DAP is the bee’s knees. The designer of this stunning little MP3 player called Chris Williams has definitely pulled this one out the bag that music lovers will just adore, the main feature that stands out above anything else has to be the glow stick design, it also has a twist and slide action on each edge which allows you to navigate thought the players menu’s and volume control. The tubular shapes are just awesome and because it is this shape you get more viewing area from the display. This is an MP3 music player that has just gone futuristic.
